Part 1
Ken@Work is the alias of Melbourne DJ & Producer Ken Walker. Ken shares with us his beginnings from starting in grade school as a disco DJ. His first chance of playing music for a crowd was when his school had a dance and he was put to the task to spin the music. He finds a nitch with a South African DJ living in Melbourne that had all the new promos from USA.
This is how he figures out what direction of music he is going to play and how to mix it. He then is working as a stage hand on the live circuit around Australia and this is the first taste where he works with bands from USA, and Europe.
Part 2
Ken@Work develops a strong following playing six to seven days a week. He starts to work in the music industry with Central Station Records and begin his first start putting together the compilations He earns awards for his edits and productions.
His achievements are many including ARIA certified platinum & gold albums (over 20 major compilations and mixed CD releases via Sony, Universal, Warner Music, Vicious Vinyl & EMI). Countless national tours supporting both local & international acts including:
Prince, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, George Benson, Earth Wind & Fire, Brian McKnight, Pink, Nelly Furtado, Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Barry White, Brand New Heavies, Soul II Soul, Kool & The Gang & Incognito. Ken is also a past recipient of the prestigious Ravage Australia testimonial award for excellence & achievement in the Australian Dance Music Industry.
For the past 5 years, Ken has mixed & produced the weekly Radio Show “Blow Ya Speakers’ which reaches to all corners of the globe including New York, London, Milan, Athens, Paris, Berlin & Madrid airing on 21 radio stations and streams via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Iheart Radio & Tunein Radio. He has new releases forthcoming on Midnight Riot, Over The Top, Spa Club, Springbok Records, Purple Music and 2 Eps for Irma Italy.

Ken@ Work aka Ken Walker has been many things during his illustrious 40 + year career in the dance music industry. A ground breaking DJ, Record label manager, radio show host & producer, columnist and magazine editor to name a few.
His achievements are many including ARIA certified platinum & gold albums (over 20 major compilations and mixed CD releases via Sony, Universal, Warner Music, Vicious Vinyl & EMI). Countless national tours supporting both local & international acts including: Prince, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, George Benson, Earth Wind & Fire, Brian McKnight, Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Barry White, Brand New Heavies, Soul II Soul, Kool & The Gang & Incognito & Summerdaze & Fute Music Festivals.
From a fruitful meeting with Kiss FM CEO Timmy Byrne in July 2014, Blow Ya Speakers Radio was born and now reaches to all corners of the globe including New York, London, Milan, Athens, Paris, Berlin & Madrid airing on 28 radio stations. Ken is also a past recipient of the prestigious Ravage Australia testimonial award for excellence & achievement in the Australian Dance Music Industry.
Ken made it onto in the illustrious Traxsource Top 100 Nu Disco
Artists of 2021 (#11) achieving a #1 with ‘Move On Up’ and 9 Top 10 positions & 81 Top 100 positions.
His release ‘Nobody’ was ranked #4 in the Beatport Top 100 Nu Disco tracks of 2019.
Since January 2022 Ken has scored another #1 wit his remix for Purple Music of “You Are The One For Me’
He has forthcoming releases on Midnight Riot Records, Purple Music, DMC U.K IRMA Italy & Glasgow Underground.
Ken also works as a contracted Producer & Remixer for DMC and has had officially remixed Dua Lipa, Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars, Change, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, George Michael, The Clash, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Narada Michael Walden, Maze, Teddy Pendergrass & more..
